Matt Blakemore is a Registered Psychologist who completed his Master of Clinical Psychology at Bond University. He brings a warm, authentic, and evidence-based approach to therapy, with a strong focus on creating a safe, collaborative, and non-judgemental space where clients feel genuinely supported and understood. Matt has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults across private practice, educational, correctional, and community settings, providing both face-to-face and telehealth psychological support.
Matt has worked within private practice, Queensland Corrective Services, and Queensland Education, supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds and across a broad range of presentations. Alongside his clinical work, Matt has also worked as a psychology tutor at Bond University. He has supported clients presenting with anxiety, mood disorders, trauma-related difficulties, emotional and behavioural regulation challenges, neurodevelopmental conditions including ADHD and Autism, substance use concerns, grief and loss, interpersonal and relationship stressors, identity and sexuality concerns, and gender-affirming care. He has experience delivering individual and group-based interventions, as well as conducting psychological assessments across educational and community contexts.
Matt completed his research thesis in the area of disordered eating and has a particular interest in supporting individuals in developing healthier and more compassionate relationships with food, body image, and self-worth.
Drawing from a strong foundation in evidence-based practice, Matt integrates a range of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based approaches, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), and trauma-informed interventions. Matt also offers animal-assisted therapy alongside Skyla, whose calm and gentle presence can help foster emotional safety, connection, engagement, and regulation within sessions. This approach can be particularly supportive for children, adolescents, and individuals who may initially find the therapeutic process overwhelming or difficult to engage in.
His therapeutic style is grounded, flexible, and person-centred, with a strong emphasis on tailoring support to each individual’s unique experiences, strengths, and goals.
